If something happens that results in personal injury
or damage to a third parties property then it may result
in a Liability Claim.
As soon as you become aware that something has happened
that may result in a Liability Claim you should provide
us with notification of the event. We will keep a record
of this notification in case further action is brought
against you by the third party.
If you receive a demand from a third party or any
other notification from a third party (or their legal
representatives) concerning personal injury or property
damage then you must advise us immediately. You should
complete a liability
claim form and submit the liability claim form to
us, together with the correspondence received from the
third party (or their legal representatives).
Once you submit your liability claim form and correspondence,
you should immediately forward to us any further correspondence
that you may receive from the third party, their legal
representatives or any other party associated with the
event.
Remember: You must NOT
admit any liability in respect to the event.
You must make your claim as soon as possible after
you suffer a loss.
You must also:
- Take all reasonable steps to prevent any further
loss from occurring.
- Provide a report to the police if your property
is lost or stolen, vandalised or maliciously damaged.
We will ask you for the police report number when
you submit your claim.
- Keep the property that has been damaged as we may
have to inspect it.
- Tell us about any prosecution or inquest that may
be held.
In relation to the Goods and Services Tax (GST), you
must provide information where requested. It is important
that you provide us with:
- Your Australian Business Number (ABN) if applicable.
- Notification as to whether or not you are registered
for GST.
- The amount of input tax credit you have claimed
on the GST applicable on the premium.
If you do not give us all the information we ask for,
it may delay the processing of your claim and could
affect the amount we pay you for your claim.
You must not repair or replace any damaged property
without our consent.
You must not pay, promise to pay, or offer payment,
or admit responsibility for a claim. |
